A tragic incident unfolded in Conroe, Texas, as Lieutenant James “Jimmy” Waller of the Conroe Police Department passed away on Friday due to severe injuries sustained during a tornado strike on Sunday.

Waller, a 22-year veteran of the department, was at home with his wife in Trinity County when an EF-1 tornado tore through their neighborhood, demolishing their residence.

Both Waller and his wife suffered serious injuries and were promptly transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Despite undergoing multiple surgeries throughout the week, Waller’s injuries proved too severe for survival, as determined by medical professionals.

Waller’s family was present by his side as he passed away. The devastating tornado, which lasted just over a minute and traveled approximately a quarter mile along the Rock Creek subdivision, caused widespread destruction in its wake. The National Weather Service reported peak winds of about 100 mph during the tornado’s brief but impactful presence.

The loss of Lieutenant Waller serves as a somber reminder of the unpredictable and destructive nature of severe weather events. The Conroe Police Department mourns the passing of one of its own, honoring Waller’s dedicated service to the community over his 22-year tenure with the department.
