Former U.S. Representative Mike Rogers, a Republican candidate for Michigan’s upcoming U.S. Senate seat, has officially been removed from Florida’s voting rolls, more than nine months after registering to vote in Michigan.

Questions about Rogers’ residency emerged earlier this year, with critics labeling him a “carpetbagger” due to discrepancies in his reported living arrangements. Despite being born and raised in Livingston County, Rogers had relocated to a sizable home in Cape Coral, Florida, valued at $1.7 million.

While Rogers had initially registered to vote at his Florida residence, he later requested removal from the voter rolls upon announcing his Senate candidacy. Although Florida’s online voter database still listed him as active, officials in Lee County confirmed his removal.

Currently residing in Genoa Township near Brighton, Rogers registered to vote there in August 2023. His campaign clarified that he is temporarily staying with family while a new home is being constructed on property purchased in White Lake Township.

Rogers, who has secured an endorsement from former President Donald Trump, faces a competitive primary against candidates like former Rep. Justin Amash, physician Sherry O’Donnell, and businessman Sandy Pensler. Meanwhile, on the Democratic side, contenders include U.S. Rep. Elissa Slotkin, actor Hill Harper, and businessman Nasser Beydoun.
