An investigation is underway by the Ohio State Highway Patrol into a devastating traffic accident that took place on Interstate 75 near Milepost 189 in Perrysburg Township. The incident occurred on May 16, 2024, at approximately 11:38 p.m.
Reports state that Aaron D. Gardner, a 21-year-old from West Millgrove, Ohio, was travelling on a 2024 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle in the left lane of Interstate 75.
Gardner was travelling at a high speed when he lost control of his motorcycle and collided with the rear of a 1997 Peterbilt commercial tractor/trailer driven by 64-year-old Albert G. Woodley from Farmington Hills, Michigan. Later, Gardner was ejected from his motorbike and collided with a 2018 Subaru Impreza driven by 19-year-old Jillian C. Trombley from Perrysburg, Ohio.
Unfortunately, Mr. Gardner was declared deceased at the site of the accident. It is important to mention that he was wearing a helmet and protective gear during the crash, and there is no evidence of alcohol or drug impairment being a factor.
Alongside the Ohio State Highway Patrol, various other agencies were involved in responding to the incident. These included the Perrysburg Township Police Department, Perrysburg Township Fire and EMS, the Wood County Coroner’s Office, and Ray’s Service Centre and Towing.
