A Secret Service agent assigned to Vice President Kamala Harris’ detail was relieved of duty following a physical altercation with fellow agents while on duty at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland, sources confirmed to Fox News Digital.

The incident occurred on Monday and was reported by The New York Post before being confirmed by Fox News Digital. Despite the altercation, Harris’s departure from the base was not delayed.

Anthony Guglielmi, the chief of communications for the U.S. Secret Service, characterized the incident as a “medical matter,” declining further comment.

According to Guglielmi, the altercation began around 9 a.m. on April 22, with the agent exhibiting distressing behavior. Medical personnel were summoned, and the agent was removed from their assignment. The incident had no impact on Harris’s schedule.

Reportedly, the agent, displaying erratic behavior, assaulted the special agent in charge, prompting intervention from other agents. The agent was subsequently restrained and received medical attention.

The agent’s behavior had reportedly raised concerns among staff prior to the incident, according to reports.
