Joseph Christopher Daniel has been sentenced to six years and three months in prison for his role in a dramatic high-speed chase that spanned 30 miles and involved reckless driving in Virginia.
On October 30, Daniel led police on a dangerous pursuit in a stolen Hummer, reaching speeds of nearly 100 mph and driving through construction zones and oncoming traffic.
The chase ended in Vienna when he attempted to carjack another vehicle before being apprehended by police.
Daniel, who pleaded guilty to felony eluding and drug possession, reportedly used methamphetamine to stay alert during the chase.
The sentencing was deemed appropriate by prosecutors, who noted the severity of Daniel’s actions and the miracle that no injuries occurred. He also faces additional carjacking charges in Fairfax County.
