RICHMOND, Va. WRIC — Governor Glenn Youngkin R announced the formation of a new Artificial Intelligence AI Task Force on Wednesday, comprising ten leading AI experts from Virginia’s educational institutions, nonprofits, and private sectors.
This initiative stems from Executive Order 30, issued in January.
In a press release, Youngkin emphasized the balance of opportunities and risks associated with AI, stating, I am excited to bring together this extraordinary group of leading experts in the AI space.
The Task Force will convene at least twice a year to provide recommendations on Policy Standards,IT Standards, and Education Guidelines, and will evaluate current and proposed AI applications within state agencies.
Youngkin’s office noted that the Task Force’s insights aim to keep Virginia’s AI policies current and responsive to advancements in the field.
This effort positions Virginia as a leader in the AI industry, reinforcing its reputation as America’s top state for business and enhancing the quality of life for its residents.
