A tragic accident occurred on Interstate 80 in Nevada on Wednesday afternoon, where a Utah man died after his car crashed into the back of a semi truck.
The Nevada Highway Patrol NHP responded to the scene at mile marker 155, approximately 20 miles west of Winnemucca.
According to NHP, both vehicles a white Toyota Corolla and a semi truck were traveling eastbound.
The semi truck had slowed down due to a nearby wildfire that had caused the temporary closure of I-80. The Toyota Corolla, driven by 65-year-old Lawrence Nelly of East Carbon, Utah, collided with the rear of the truck’s trailer and remained lodged after the impact.
Nelly tragically died at the scene from his injuries. Fortunately, no other individuals were harmed in the incident. NHP’s Traffic Homicide Unit is currently investigating the crash, and further details have yet to be released.
