In the aftermath of the heart-wrenching investigations into multiple murders in South Monterey County, court documents have unveiled a series of events preceding these distressing incidents.
All three suspects implicated in the murders have pleaded not guilty in court. The first to face the judge was a Greenfield teenager identified as “Angel E.” in court records.
Angel E. entered a plea of not guilty and is slated for another court appearance on June 4, 2024. Similarly, Pedro Manuel Nava and Jonathan Cervantes also pleaded not guilty and are scheduled to return to court on May 28.
Prosecutors are pushing to transfer Angel E.’s case out of juvenile court to try him as an adult.
Nava, Cervantes, and Angel E. are facing charges related to multiple murders and gang activities, all originating from Greenfield.
According to court documents, Nava allegedly directed the shooters regarding their targets and still faces murder charges for his alleged involvement.
Sheriff Tina Nieto disclosed that over 80 warrants were executed by various law enforcement agencies in the quest for justice for the victims of the shootings. These incidents claimed the lives of six individuals and left 11 others wounded in the King City tragedy.
James Hunt, Chief of the King City Police, conveyed the enduring anguish felt by the community, stressing the profound loss experienced by all residents.
The victims of each shooting are as follows:
In King City:
- Alicia Aparicio
- Francisco Aldape
- Olivo Pina
- Mario Guzman
In Soledad:
- Jack Canchola
- Andres “Chavita” Garcia
Court documents meticulously outline a timeline of events spanning from late January to early March:
- Vehicle theft in Monterey: January 24 to January 26
- Brandishing and robbery in King City and Salinas: February 3
- Thorne Road double murder in Soledad: February 4
- Burglary and vehicle theft in Pacific Grove: February 17 and February 24
- Mass shooting in King City: March 3
The accuracy of the timeline outlined in court documents has been confirmed by the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office.
While the third gunman involved in the King City mass shooting and the Soledad cousins’ murders has not been arraigned, authorities persist in their relentless pursuit of justice.
The family of Alicia Aparicio expressed their yearning for justice, acknowledging the anguish of their loss and the steadfast support from the community in their quest for closure.
