SALIDA – A Highway 99 off-ramp in Stanislaus County will be closed for most of Sunday night after two people were found dead in a vehicle, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Officers arrived around 6 p.m. at the northbound Highway 99 off-ramp at Hammett Road after receiving reports of a possible assault. They discovered a man and woman deceased in a Honda sedan parked on the shoulder. Their identities have not been released.
Preliminary investigation suggests the incident may be related to domestic violence earlier in the day. The Hemmett Road off-ramp is expected to remain closed throughout the night. This area is in northern Salida.
Authorities have assured the public there is no ongoing threat. Anyone with information should contact the CHP – Modesto unit.
