President-elect Trump, in a recent post on Truth Social, sharply criticized the legal proceedings against him in the New York hush money case, which is set for sentencing on January 10. He labeled the case as a product of a corrupt and broken legal system, accusing Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg of being pressured into bringing the case by the Biden/Harris administration.
Trump singled out Mark Pomerantz, a former prosecutor involved in the investigation, claiming that Bragg was upset with Pomerantz’s handling of the case, despite Pomerantz’s assertion that sufficient evidence existed for a conviction in 2022.
Trump also lashed out at Judge Juan Merchan, calling him a radical partisan and alleging that the judge had fabricated facts and law to move forward with the trial.
He further criticized an unconstitutional gag order preventing him from speaking about what he claimed were the judge’s conflicts of interest.
Trump contended that the entire legal system was rigged against him, asserting that businesses were fleeing New York because of what he described as a judicial witch hunt.
Trump’s post came after Judge Merchan set the sentencing date, rejecting Trump’s request to delay proceedings in light of his presidency. In response, Trump called the legal actions an illegitimate political attack and warned that the legal system’s actions could undermine the future of the presidency.
