A supervisor at a luxury jewelry company was sentenced for stealing over $1.7 million worth of gold, silver, and platinum from his employer.

Benjamin Preacher, who worked for Tiffany & Co. since 2018, was sentenced by US District Court Judge Angel Kelley to 59 days in prison. After that, he will serve two years of supervised release, including 10 months of home confinement and 200 hours of community service. The government had recommended a 30-month prison sentence.

Preacher worked at Tiffany’s manufacturing facility in Rhode Island, where he stole scrap precious metals while overseeing production and security. He then transported the stolen metals to Massachusetts and sold them to various businesses.

In June 2024, Preacher pleaded guilty to transporting stolen goods across state lines and engaging in illegal financial transactions.
