PASADENA, Calif.(Thechieftainspear) – — A Pasadena hospital went into lockdown Friday night after a former patient allegedly threatened violence against the facility, prompting a swift response from law enforcement.

Pasadena police were called to Huntington Hospital after receiving reports of a credible threat, which led to a lockdown lasting several hours, particularly in the emergency department.

Authorities identified the suspect as a 33-year-old man who had been admitted to the hospital earlier that day. After being discharged, he allegedly called the hospital around 2 p.m., threatening to carry out an attack. Officials did not disclose the nature of the threat but confirmed it was credible and not a case of swatting—a dangerous hoax where false threats are reported to trigger a heavy police response.

Hospital staff received a Code Silver alert, a warning typically issued for incidents involving an active shooter or potential hostage situation. As a precaution, emergency responders rerouted incoming ambulances to other hospitals, and access to the facility was restricted for patients and visitors.

Police tracked down and arrested the suspect in Los Angeles. His name has not been released, and authorities have not yet revealed a motive for the threat.

In a statement, Huntington Hospital assured the public that the situation had been resolved. “We take all threats seriously and immediately contacted the Pasadena Police Department, who responded quickly. The individual responsible is now in custody, and normal operations have resumed.”

This incident follows two swatting hoaxes earlier in the week that targeted other institutions. On Wednesday night, Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital in San Bernardino County was swarmed by law enforcement after a caller falsely claimed they intended to attack the facility. A similar swatting incident occurred Thursday night at Claremont McKenna College, triggering another large-scale police response.

Authorities continue to investigate Friday’s threat at Huntington Hospital, and further details may be released as the case develops .
