Commuting is often a stressful part of daily life, and for residents of one Pennsylvania city, it’s an especially anxiety-inducing ordeal.

Philadelphia has been identified as one of the cities in the United States where commuting is particularly stressful, according to a recent study by Compare the Market AU. The study aimed to assess the sentiment of residents regarding their commutes in the world’s most populous cities.

Using social listening data from Linkfluence, researchers analyzed the percentage of negative sentiment associated with commuting in each location, factoring in population size to determine the final rankings.

Philadelphia emerged among the top 10 cities in North America with the most stressful commutes and ranked fourth overall in the United States. These findings align with another study previously reported by PennLive, which highlighted Philadelphia as having the longest average commute time in the state, averaging 33 minutes.

However, Los Angeles, California, claimed the unenviable title of having the worst overall commute in the United States, ranking highest in both North America and the world.

With a high negative sentiment score of 46.5% and over 20,000 negative tweets about traffic recorded in the past year, Los Angeles faces significant challenges. The report attributes the city’s traffic woes to its lack of a well-connected public transport system and its sprawling layout, which exacerbates congestion issues.

The study also included other cities such as Vancouver, Canada, and Dublin, Ireland, in its analysis.
