A heartbreaking incident has shaken the Glenview community in Chicago as 17-year-old Marko Niketic’s life was tragically cut short just weeks before his graduation. The devastating crash occurred when a suspected drunk driver, 21-year-old Taeyoung Kim, collided with Niketic’s car at a staggering speed of over 120 mph, causing the vehicle to split into two.

Marko was accompanied by his 16-year-old girlfriend as they drove through Glenview, IL. Taeyoung Kim, behind the wheel of his 2021 Ford Mustang, was reportedly speeding recklessly along East Lake Ave with his headlights off, endangering everyone on the road.

As Marko attempted a left turn at an intersection, Kim’s speeding car crashed into theirs, resulting in a catastrophic impact that tore Marko’s sedan in half. The severity of the collision left part of the car on the road while the other half crashed through a nearby fence into a backyard.

Emergency responders rushed to the scene, but tragically, Marko was pronounced dead. His girlfriend and Kim’s passenger suffered critical injuries and were swiftly taken to the hospital for urgent medical attention.

Taeyoung Kim now faces serious charges, including reckless homicide and aggravated DUI resulting in death, as authorities investigate the circumstances of the accident.

The loss of Marko, a promising student on the brink of a significant milestone, has left the community reeling with grief. Friends, family, and neighbors are grappling with the profound impact of this senseless tragedy as they come to terms with the heartbreaking loss of a beloved member of their community.
