Gas prices in Florida reached a peak last week, matching the highest average of 2024, according to AAA – The Auto Club Group.

The average price per gallon in Florida hit $3.64 on Friday, tying with the highest average recorded earlier in the year. Despite this, the price per gallon has since dropped slightly to an average of $3.61, just 3 cents higher than the same period last year.

Compared to previous years, the current price remains lower, with 2023 seeing highs of $3.85 and 2022 reaching $4.89. AAA suggests that relief might be in sight for drivers, as the price of oil experienced a decrease last week, leading to a drop of 20 cents per gallon in gasoline futures.

However, some areas in Florida still experience higher prices than others. The most expensive gas can be found in West Palm Beach-Boca Raton ($3.77), Naples ($3.70), and Homosassa Springs ($3.68), while the least expensive options are in Crestview-Fort Walton Beach ($3.35), Pensacola ($3.37), and Panama City ($3.38).
