Sumy Hospital Airstrike: Ukrainian President Zelensky Condemns Attack on Civilians

On September 28, a tragic airstrike on a hospital in Sumy, Ukraine, resulted in the deaths of 10 individuals and left 22 others injured.

This incident, described as a double-tap attack, involved two strikes, with the first killing one person and severely damaging the hospital.

As first responders arrived to assist, a second strike occurred, exacerbating the casualties.

Among the wounded, 15 were hospitalized, five in serious condition, while seven received outpatient treatment.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the attack, calling attention to Russia’s ongoing targeting of medical facilities.

He emphasized the need for global awareness regarding the nature of the conflict, highlighting that Russia’s actions are a direct assault on hospitals and civilian life.

Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko confirmed the ongoing rescue efforts and the evacuation of patients to other healthcare facilities.

The airstrike occurred amidst a backdrop of continuous Russian attacks in the region, particularly following Ukraine’s counter-offensive operations in neighboring areas.

Zelensky reiterated the importance of strength in achieving peace, thanking supporters who stand with Ukraine during these challenging times.
