Senator Shelley Moore Capito expressed confidence that existing federal financial support for energy and infrastructure projects in West Virginia, such as the Appalachian hydrogen hub and local manufacturing initiatives, will remain unaffected by President Trump’s recent executive order pausing certain federal fund disbursements.
She emphasized that funds already obligated, including those for the hydrogen hub and companies like BHE Renewables and Nucor Steel, will continue to flow, although new funding may face scrutiny under the pause.
Capito also noted that $1.2 billion in broadband funding for West Virginia should proceed as planned, but unallocated funds might be delayed as the administration reassesses future disbursements.
