Two Rochester police officers were injured when their car was hit by a suspected drunk driver on Jay Street Sunday night.

At approximately 6:35 p.m., a car from the RPD with two officers inside was heading eastbound on Jay Street. As it neared the intersection of Jay Street and Walnut Street, a vehicle heading southbound on Walnut Street neglected to stop at a stop sign and crashed into the police car.

Another vehicle was also involved in the impact, travelling on Jay Street. A 22-year-old man is currently facing DWI charges after being involved in a collision with both an RPD car and another vehicle.

Thankfully, both officers and the other individuals involved sustained injuries that were not life-threatening, even though all three vehicles were significantly damaged.

This incident took place shortly after another RPD cruiser was struck on Dewey Avenue, resulting in another driver being charged with DWI.
