San Bernardino County(Thechieftainspear) – A San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputy lost his life in a tragic crash during a vehicle pursuit in Victorville on Monday morning, authorities confirmed.
The collision occurred around 11 a.m. near the intersection of El Evado and Seneca roads. Sheriff’s Department spokesperson Gloria Orejel stated that emergency responders were initially unable to assess the full extent of injuries due to downed power lines in the area. Southern California Edison was called to assist with the hazardous conditions.
Prior to the crash, deputies had been pursuing a reported stolen vehicle. Although officials initially did not confirm a direct connection between the pursuit and the accident, authorities later verified that the deputy had been involved in the chase at the time of the collision, according to Lt. Kari Klaus.

Aerial footage from Sky5 revealed the severity of the crash, with a vehicle completely torn in half near the dashboard.
The deputy, whose identity has not yet been released, was pronounced dead at the scene. Klaus described the fallen officer as a male deputy who sustained fatal injuries in the impact.
Additionally, a female driver in a separate vehicle was injured and transported to a nearby hospital. Officials confirmed that she was the sole occupant of her vehicle, but her current condition remains unknown.
The investigation into the crash and the circumstances surrounding the pursuit is ongoing.
