Indiana Woman Arrested for Allegedly Attacking Pregnant Woman with Baseball Bat During Confrontation

Authorities have arrested an Indiana woman, Angela Canaday, accused of striking a pregnant woman with a baseball bat while using multiple slurs and insults during a heated altercation.

Canaday, 49, faces two felony charges: battery resulting in bodily injury to a pregnant woman and intimidation.

According to court documents, Canaday called 911 on August 20 to report that she had hit another woman with a bat. New Castle police responded and interviewed the pregnant victim.

The victim stated that the incident began when she stepped outside her home to call for a friend’s child she was watching. Canaday then allegedly came out of her house, began shouting at the woman, and used a racial slur.

The victim warned Canaday not to use such language because there were children present, saying, “There are a lot of kids outside.”

Canaday reportedly went back into her house, retrieved a black wooden baseball bat, and returned outside.

The situation escalated as Canaday allegedly began using more slurs and then attacked the pregnant woman.

Court documents state that Canaday shouted, “Go on, you [slur],” and aggressively swung the bat at the woman, who was holding her baby.

The bat struck the pregnant woman, and Canaday reportedly threatened to kill her, continuing to use abusive language.

The victim told police that she feared for her life during the encounter.

Canaday was arrested on August 20 and booked into the Henry County Jail. She appeared in court for an initial hearing last week.
