Dr. Danny Jacobs, the president of Oregon Health and Science University OHSU  has announced his resignation after more than six years in leadership.

The decision, made public on Thursday, cites personal reasons for his departure. Jacobs, who became OHSU’s fifth president in 2018, previously held prominent roles at the University of Texas Medical Branch, where he served as executive vice president, provost, and dean of the school of medicine.

In his announcement, Jacobs expressed gratitude for his time at OHSU, stating, I am pleased to have had the opportunity to serve OHSU and the state of Oregon.

He has indicated that he will assist in the transition by providing recommendations for succession planning and intends to remain engaged in an advisory capacity until a successor is appointed. Jacobs and his wife, Nancy, wish the university and its community all the best for the future.
