COLUMBUS, Ohio WCMH — With the recent legalization of non-medical marijuana in Ohio, dispensaries are experiencing a significant increase in customers while ensuring that medical patients remain a priority.

Mandy Morton, co-owner of Local’s Dispensary, reports a surge in traffic. We’re seeing up to four times the number of customers we did before, Morton said.

To manage this influx, Morton explained they’ve had to change their stocking practices. We used to restock every two weeks, but now it’s weekly and in larger quantities.

Maintaining a focus on medical marijuana patients remains crucial. Brooklyn Wooten, manager at Local’s Dispensary, emphasized their commitment to medical patients. We make it our mission to prioritize medical patients, even with the increased customer volume. We have clear signage to remind everyone of this priority.

As dispensaries adapt, they are also advocating for changes to state regulations. Nilendu Singh of Nar Reserve hopes for new rules to expand their options. I hope the new regulations will allow for more products, like high-concentration items and pre-rolls, Singh said.

New rules allowing the sale of pre-rolls for non-medical marijuana are expected to be in effect by September 7, according to the Division of Cannabis Control.
