With the November 5 General Election approaching, KSBY News reporter Juliet Lemar spoke with the two candidates vying to represent California’s State Senate District 21: Monique Limón, a Democratic incumbent, and Elijah Mack, a 19-year-old Republican challenger.
Monique Limón, who has served in the state legislature for eight years, emphasized her work on bipartisan initiatives, particularly in healthcare, education, and the environment.
She highlighted her efforts on pay transparency and reducing cancer medication costs, saying that 80% of her authored bills were bipartisan.
Elijah Mack, an activist running a grassroots campaign, is focused on promoting free markets, environmental sustainability, and community independence.
His platform includes support for nuclear energy, regenerative agriculture, and localized economies.
District 21 covers all of Santa Barbara County, part of southern San Luis Obispo County, and 60% of Ventura County.
