Danielle Friedland, 36, hails from Piedmont and had been undergoing mental healthcare in Houston. Originally scheduled to return home last Wednesday to continue her care and be with her two children for Thanksgiving, she did not board her flight at George Bush Intercontinental Airport, triggering a search.

“We are pleased to inform everyone that around 2:30 am last night, with the assistance of the Houston Police Department, we successfully located Dani, established contact with her, and she is now in a safe condition,” stated her family in a release on Wednesday.

The statement continued, expressing deep gratitude to the Houston community for their unwavering support. The family specifically thanked Chief Finner, Commanders Faulhaber and Hassig, and the Houston Police Department for their dedicated efforts in locating her.

They also extended their appreciation to Impact Houston church for providing assistance, food, and support. Additionally, they thanked the local Jewish community, the Houston Constables, the Homeless Outreach Team, and various shelters and organizations in Houston.

The family acknowledged the kindness of the local unhoused community, who actively participated in distributing flyers, searching for Dani, and providing information on relevant areas.

“We are incredibly thankful to all of you and many others who supported us during the most challenging week of our lives. As we navigate the next steps for Dani and the rest of the family, we kindly request privacy to begin the healing process.”

According to Houston police, they received a tip about her location on Tuesday night. Upon investigating the area where she had recently used a credit card, they successfully found her. Friedland reportedly sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was subsequently taken to the hospital.

Her family shared with our sister station KTRK in Houston that she had been grappling with an unexpected but ongoing mental health issue for several months.
