Henderson, Ky. WBKO – The Kentucky State Police KSP celebrated the graduation of 11 telecommunicators from the Class of 2024 Telecommunication Academy. This ceremony marks a significant addition to KSP’s commitment to public safety across the state.
KSP telecommunicators play a vital role in managing dispatch calls for KSP, commercial enforcement officers, conservation officers, and various emergency service agencies.
KSP Commissioner Phillip Burnett Jr. emphasized the importance of these professionals, stating, “Not only do they serve as a lifeline for our Troopers and officers, but also for Kentuckians. We are grateful to add 11 new telecommunicators to our team, who will strengthen public safety in our state.”
Instructor Jason Long highlighted the graduates’ exceptional skills in emergency call management and their ability to handle high-pressure situations. He noted, Telecommunicators are essential, and I look forward to seeing their contributions to KSP and the people of the Commonwealth.
The newly graduated telecommunicators have been assigned to seven different posts across Kentucky. Last year alone, KSP telecommunicators handled over one million calls, with more than 400,000 requiring immediate assistance.
The addition of these graduates is expected to enhance the quality of service provided to the community and improve overall safety in the state.
