U.S. Senator Katie Britt R-Ala. defended former President Donald Trump against Democratic accusations of fascism during her appearance on Fox News’ The Ingraham Angle. Britt criticized the rhetoric directed at Trump, labeling it as reckless and despicable. She stated that such language has no place in American politics, emphasizing that no one should be talked to or called things like that.
Britt’s comments came in response to a question from host Laura Ingraham regarding whether the term fascist used against Trump and his supporters endangers the former president’s life.
While she condemned the attacks on Trump, Britt refrained from directly addressing Trump’s own use of the term fascist to describe Vice President Kamala Harris.
The controversy around the term escalated last week when General John Kelly, Trump’s former chief of staff, suggested in an interview that Trump fits the definition of a fascist due to his authoritarian tendencies and admiration for dictators.
During a town hall, Harris was asked if she considers Trump a fascist, to which she replied affirmatively.
Ingraham concluded the segment by expressing concern that the fascist label could incite further violence against Trump, referencing two prior assassination attempts against him.
In response to these accusations, Trump maintained that he is not a fascist or a Nazi, asserting during a campaign event that She’s a fascist, OK? in reference to Harris.
