Kari Lake, a prominent Arizona election denier, appears to have accepted her loss in the recent U.S. Senate race to Congressman Ruben Gallego. However, she continues to face the consequences of her refusal to accept her defeat in the 2022 Arizona governor’s race.

Two days after the Associated Press called the Senate race for Gallego, Lake shared a video on X formerly Twitter, acknowledging the end of her Senate campaign, although she stopped short of directly conceding. Gallego’s campaign confirmed that she has not yet contacted him to concede.

Meanwhile, Lake is still dealing with a defamation lawsuit filed by Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer.

This lawsuit stems from Lake’s repeated false accusations about election fraud in the 2022 gubernatorial race. In the suit, Richer seeks damages for the harassment he endured after Lake’s allegations, including the cost of installing new security features at his home.

Lake’s legal team is pushing for the case to be dismissed, arguing that Richer failed to provide adequate proof of damages.

They also claim that Richer’s reputation had already suffered prior to Lake’s accusations, due to his clashes with Trump supporters over election practices. Additionally, Lake’s defense team has criticized Richer for deleting his X account and for not complying with court orders regarding the case.

A pretrial conference for this case is set for February 2025, with a jury trial to follow to determine the damages owed. Meanwhile, Lake faces a November 22 deadline to disclose when her campaign emails were deleted, and under whose direction.
