As Vice President Kamala Harris gains support in key battleground states, pro-Palestinian protesters are making their presence known at her campaign rallies and plan to do the same at the Democratic National Convention.

Democratic strategist Aisha Mills spoke with NewsNation and discussed how these protests might affect Harris’ support in Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. While the Israel-Hamas conflict is significant, Mills noted that Harris’ supporters are not focused on just one issue.”Kamala Harris’ voters care about many things,” Mills said. Affordable housing, addressing homelessness, and border security are all important topics.

During a rally in Arizona last week, Harris called for a cease-fire after pro-Palestinian protesters interrupted her speech.

Mills emphasized that the protests reflect the freedom people have to voice their concerns, which is something Harris supports.

Recent polls show Harris leading former President Donald Trump in crucial states, with strong backing from key voter groups.

We’re going to win through culture,” Mills said. “If you check TikTok, you can see the momentum. There are 20 million Gen Z voters now, and they, along with the Democratic base, are energized. That’s how we win.
