Judge Juan Merchan, who presided over Donald Trump’s hush money trial, has brought attention to a suspicious Facebook post suggesting inside knowledge about the jury’s decision. This post, flagged by the judge, was allegedly made by someone claiming to be a relative of a juror.

The comment, which has since been removed from the New York court system’s Facebook page, read: “My cousin is a juror and says Trump is getting convicted. Thank you folks for all your hard work!!!!” It appeared in response to a notice about a different court matter posted on May 29.

Judge Merchan, in his letter to both the prosecution and Trump’s defense team, did not confirm whether the post was legitimate or a prank by an internet troll. Early checks suggest that the account might belong to someone known for making provocative comments on the court’s social media pages.

The jury found Trump guilty on May 30 on all 34 charges connected to his efforts to silence Stormy Daniels about their affair just before the 2016 election. This post has sparked discussions, particularly among Trump’s supporters who are questioning the fairness of the trial’s outcome.

Judge Merchan highlighted that jurors had been explicitly told not to discuss the case during the trial. The appearance of this post during the jury’s deliberation period raised concerns, leading the judge to notify the lawyers as a precaution. So far, there is no indication that the post influenced the jury or had any actual insight into their discussions.

In another development, Judge Merchan has allowed Trump’s attorney, Todd Blanche, to be present at Trump’s pre-sentence interview with a probation officer. This session is part of the preparation for Trump’s sentencing, which is set for July 11.

The community and legal observers are watching closely as the fallout from Trump’s conviction continues to unfold.
