An inmate at a federal correctional facility in West Virginia has received an additional sentence after being caught with a weapon, authorities reported.

Demoreal Killebrew, 26, was sentenced to one year and three months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, for possessing a weapon while incarcerated.

At FCI McDowell, correctional staff discovered a handcrafted shank in Killebrew’s left shoe.

The weapon, measuring approximately 5.5 inches in length, was made from a metal rod with a sharpened point and a plastic cap as the handle.

Killebrew admitted to possessing the shank and acknowledged that it was intended for use as a weapon.
