On Saturday, Governor Gavin Newsom welcomed 102 new graduates of the California Highway Patrol (CHP). This graduation is a key milestone in the CHP 1000 recruitment campaign.
The new officers completed a 26-week training program and were sworn in by CHP Commissioner Sean Duryee at the West Sacramento CHP Academy.
Duryee praised the new officers, saying, “After 26 weeks of intense training, we are excited to welcome them to the CHP family. They are starting a service career and will be dedicated to their communities.”
The officers will begin their duties at one of the 102 CHP Area offices across California. This year, the CHP has seen a rise in cadet numbers due to the CHP 1000 campaign and a new recruitment web series called “Cadets.”
In 2024, the CHP has added 409 new officers, surpassing the number from 2023. Since the campaign’s start, 816 cadets have become officers.
The next graduation at the CHP Academy is set for September 13. For more information on applications, visit [here].
