Governor Maura Healey has appointed Geoffery Noble as the new Colonel of the Massachusetts State Police. Noble, who previously served as Lieutenant Colonel of the New Jersey State Police, was praised by Healey for his leadership and work in New Jersey. Healey expressed confidence that Noble is the right choice to lead the Massachusetts State Police.
Noble expressed his honor at being chosen and emphasized the need for an accessible, transparent, and committed leader. He also highlighted his experience investigating police use of deadly force in New Jersey.
The State Police Association of Massachusetts is eager to work with Noble. Interim Colonel Jack Mawn, who has a deep affection for the department, expressed his support for Noble and encouraged everyone in the State Police to back him.
Noble’s appointment comes amid recent controversies, including the removal of Trooper Michael Proctor, who was involved in the Karen Read case, and the conviction of several troopers for stealing money in an overtime fraud scheme.
