Shreveport, LA – Governor Landry has announced the appointment of Misti Cordell as the new Chairwoman of the Louisiana Board of Regents.

Cordell, who was first appointed to the board as an at-large member in January, brings extensive experience in rural health and healthcare administration to her new role.

Currently serving as a Physician Recruiter for Affinity Health Group in Monroe, Cordell’s career in healthcare began as a Pharmaceutical Sales Representative for AstraZeneca, where she covered regions from South Arkansas to South Louisiana.

Her diverse background in both healthcare and government has positioned her as a vital link between healthcare organizations and state policymakers.

Cordell’s efforts have significantly enhanced the understanding between local healthcare structures and the policymaking process, ultimately benefiting the broader community.

In addition to her work with the Board of Regents, she serves on several boards, including the Board of Directors for MedCamps of Louisiana, the CenturyNext Bank Advisory Board, the Board of Directors for Ouachita Parish Library, and the Advisory Board for the Northeast Louisiana Children’s Museum.

Governor Landry expressed confidence in Cordell’s ability to lead the Board of Regents, emphasizing the importance of her experience in addressing the healthcare needs of Louisiana’s rural communities.

As Chairwoman, Cordell will play a crucial role in shaping the future of higher education in Louisiana, focusing on bridging gaps between educational institutions and healthcare demands.
