Governor Jim Justice has declared a State of Preparedness for 22 counties in West Virginia in anticipation of heavy rainfall and high winds from the remnants of Hurricane Helene.
The counties affected include Randolph, Webster, Braxton, Nicholas, and several others.
This declaration allows the West Virginia Emergency Management Division WVEMD to mobilize personnel and resources for a swift response to any potential emergencies.
Agencies are on standby to assist at the State of Emergency Operations Center if necessary.
Governor Justice emphasized the need for caution, noting that while the rain may alleviate ongoing drought conditions, excessive rainfall could result in flooding and power outages.
He urged residents to stay informed about weather updates and to follow emergency officials’ instructions.
