ATLANTA, Ga.  — A guy from Georgia has been charged with making threats against the head of the FBI.

On June 7, 2023, John Woodbury wrote on 4chan.org that he would hurt FBI head Christopher Wray if he didn’t get his way. The texts said that Wray and his family would be hurt by violent acts.

U.S. Attorney Ryan K. Buchanan said, “It is illegal to send threats to physically harm a public official in order to stop the administration of justice.” Deputy Director Wray and other police officers work hard to protect our freedoms and keep our people safe.

Especially horrible are threats made against people who work for the government and are committed to upholding our crime laws. Our office will always work to make sure that public officials can do their jobs without being scared or threatened.

He was charged by a federal grand jury on July 9, 2024. Woodbury was caught and put on trial today. At the moment, the FBI is looking into this case.
