A Montgomery County woman became $1 million richer after claiming her Mega Millions prize from a ticket purchased at Quincy’s Bar & Grille in Gaithersburg.
The winning ticket was part of the July 19 drawing, and it turns out that trying her luck wasn’t her original plan.
The woman, a legal assistant, was hesitant to buy a ticket until her family convinced her to take a chance. She chose a $2 Mega Millions ticket and let the machine pick her numbers.
After the drawing, she scanned her ticket at Quincy’s and was stunned to find she had won the $1 million second-tier prize. Despite the big win, she says she probably won’t play again, believing this lucky streak is all she’ll ever need.
Her plans for the winnings are straightforward: save and invest, with an eye on possibly attending law school.
Quincy’s Bar & Grille, located on Quince Orchard Road, will also receive a $2,500 bonus for selling the winning ticket. This marks the third $1 million second-tier winning Mega Millions ticket sold in Maryland this year.
A fourth prize from an October 15 drawing remains unclaimed, sold at Check Cash Depot in Brooklyn Park.
