The Michigan Gaming Control Board MGCB and the Michigan Attorney General announced guilty pleas from five individuals tied to an illegal gambling operation in Flint.
An investigation revealed that Hot Spot Skill Arcade operated without a gaming license, running 41 computer gaming stations with casino-style gambling software from TS Trading Systems.
The defendants, employees of Hot Spot Skill Arcade, include Michael Bixby, 48; Jeffrey Ladd, 52; Victoria Adams, 64; Michelle Teall, 58; and Courtney Thompson, 57.
MGCB Executive Director Henry Williams highlighted the agency’s commitment to enforcing gaming laws, crediting the partnership with Attorney General Dana Nessel’s office for bringing the case to a successful resolution.
The operation allowed patrons to gamble using computers, with winnings redeemable for Visa gift cards. Bixby and Ladd pleaded guilty to a felony charge of running an unlicensed gambling operation, while Adams, Teall, and Thompson pleaded guilty to misdemeanors for maintaining a gambling house for profit.
Sentencing for all defendants is set for December 2 in the 7th Judicial Circuit Court.
