The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) has announced a significant development in the enforcement of Texas’ 10 Most Wanted Criminal Illegal Immigrants List, recently launched by Governor Greg Abbott.
In a successful operation, Servando Trejo Duran Jr., aged 62, was apprehended in Baytown, Texas, with the collaborative efforts of DPS Special Agents, Troopers from the Texas Anti-Gang (TAG) Center in Houston, and the Baytown Police Department Special Investigations Division. Duran was promptly booked into the Chambers County Jail, although no Crime Stoppers reward will be granted for his arrest.
Originally from Mexico, Duran has been linked to criminal activities in eastern Harris County, particularly in Baytown and Deer Park, Texas. His criminal record traces back to 1980, when he faced charges of burglary of a residence by the Baytown Police Department, resulting in a sentence of 10 years’ probation.
Subsequently, in 1986, he was convicted of homicide in Harris County and served a life sentence. After his parole release in January 2009, Duran was deported from the United States.
However, he reappeared in February 2023, apprehended by the Deer Park Police Department for tampering with a government record, and was later released on bond. Following a parole violation warrant issued by the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles on March 1, 2023, Duran evaded capture until his recent arrest.
Through the support of the Governor’s Public Safety Office, Texas Crime Stoppers incentivizes individuals to come forward with information leading to the arrest of individuals on the 10 Most Wanted Criminal Illegal Immigrants list. Tipsters can provide anonymous information through various channels, including the Crime Stoppers hotline, the DPS website, or Facebook.
DPS Special Agents, in collaboration with local and federal law enforcement agencies, continue to work diligently to apprehend criminal illegal immigrant fugitives identified on the list. It’s crucial for the public to refrain from attempting to apprehend these individuals, as they are considered to be armed and dangerous.
