Officials have confirmed the recovery of the body of a fifth worker who went missing following the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge over a month ago. Miguel Angel Luna Gonzalez, aged 49 and from Glen Burnie, Maryland, was identified as the latest victim found on Wednesday.

The tragic incident occurred on March 26 when a container ship lost power and collided with one of the bridge’s supporting columns, causing six members of a roadwork crew to plunge to their deaths. While five bodies have now been recovered, one worker, Jose Mynor Lopez, remains missing.

The victims were all Latino immigrants hailing from Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras, highlighting the diverse backgrounds affected by the tragedy.

Salvage teams made a significant discovery on Wednesday by locating one of the missing construction vehicles. Maryland State Police, along with other law enforcement agencies, swiftly responded to the scene, recovering a body found inside a red truck. The collaborative efforts of various agencies underscore the dedication to ongoing recovery operations.

Maryland State Police Superintendent Roland Butler expressed condolences to the families affected by the tragedy, emphasizing the need for support during this difficult time.

The container ship involved in the incident, the Dali, has remained stationary amidst the wreckage. However, plans are underway to refloat and remove the vessel, facilitating the resumption of maritime traffic through Baltimore’s port. Officials anticipate completing the removal process by May 10, allowing for the gradual restoration of normalcy in the area.
