BRUNSWICK, Ga – The FBI has named Brunswick one of the ten most dangerous towns in Georgia. The office gives out crime data that it has gathered.

About 17,000 people live in the city of Brunswick, and people come from all over the country to see the Victorian-era houses. It is also the second-biggest city on the coast of Georgia.

Based on the most latest FBI data, these are the 10 most dangerous cities in Georgia in 2023:

  1. East Point
  2. College Park
  3. Eastman
  4. Americus
  5. Hapeville
  6. Albany
  7. Brunswick
  8. Griffin
  9. Dublin
  10. Warner Robins

The Brunswick metro area, including Brantley, Glynn, and McIntosh Counties, was ranked as the seventh most dangerous city in Georgia. It reported 433 violent crimes, including seven murders, and saw a high rate of property crimes.

Violent crimes include murder, rape, robbery, and aggravated assault, while property crimes cover burglary, theft, and vehicle theft.

East Point, an Atlanta suburb, was ranked as the most dangerous city, followed by College Park, near Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.

Overall, crime rates in Georgia have been decreasing since 2016 and are lower than the national average.

The FBI advises against using such rankings to measure law enforcement effectiveness, noting that crime is influenced by many factors.
