Marlene Cintron, a passionate advocate for small businesses in New York, New Jersey, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, is making significant strides in empowering historically underserved communities, particularly Latinas.

As a regional administrator for the U.S. Small Business Administration SBA, she manages an impressive portfolio of approximately $7 billion in small business capital annually.

Cintron’s journey began in the South Bronx, where she grew up in a Puerto Rican family facing poverty. Her determination led her to become the first in her family to attend college, eventually earning a law degree from Georgetown University.

Since being appointed by President Joe Biden in 2020, Cintron has focused on fostering female minority-owned businesses, creating over 60,000 jobs this year alone.

She takes pride in her community involvement, advocating for small businesses and attracting more than $9 billion in private equity to the Bronx.

Cintron continues to inspire and celebrate trailblazing Latinas like Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor and U.S. Rep. Nydia Velázquez, all while remaining deeply connected to her roots in the South Bronx. With a vision for the future, Cintron believes the best is yet to come for the communities she serves.
