Dr. Steve Davis Appointed Interim Health Commissioner by Kentucky Board of Health

The Board of Health has appointed Dr. Steve Davis as the new Interim Commissioner of Health, as announced by Majd Jabbour, Chair of the Board of Health. In the statement, Jabbour praised Dr. Davis for his leadership and dedication, particularly highlighting his role in establishing key health programs in Kentucky.

These programs include the Birth Defects Prevention initiative, the Home Visiting Program HANDS to improve pregnancy outcomes, Healthy Start in Child Care, immunization efforts for underinsured children, Early Childhood Mental Health, and Oral Health for Children.

Dr. Davis was also recognized for his instrumental work in creating six Diabetes Centers of Excellence across the state, which have provided essential education for managing and treating diabetes, leading to better outcomes for the state’s diabetic population.

Jabbour expressed confidence in Dr. Davis’ ability to guide the Board forward, stating that his experience as a medical director makes him well-prepared to lead in this new role.
