Actor Robert De Niro made a surprising appearance outside the Manhattan courthouse, representing President Biden’s campaign. De Niro strongly criticized Trump, insisting that he should go to jail and warning about the consequences of a potential Trump re-election.

This move marked a notable departure for the Biden campaign, which had previously avoided discussing Trump’s legal issues to avoid fueling Trump’s narrative that Biden was behind the prosecutions.

De Niro’s comments deviated from the planned script, boldly declaring Trump’s guilt regardless of the trial’s outcome. Amid heckling from Trump supporters, De Niro asserted that everyone knows Trump is guilty.

The Biden campaign’s press conference initially aimed to focus on Trump’s role in the January 6th Capitol attack. De Niro was joined by former Capitol Police officers Harry Dunn and Michael Fanone, both critical of Trump’s actions.

Fanone labeled Trump an “authoritarian,” accusing him of inciting violence, while De Niro condemned Trump for exploiting his supporters. De Niro also referenced Trump’s civil case involving allegations of sexual abuse, an issue rarely discussed by the Biden campaign.

Trump’s team swiftly responded, accusing Biden’s campaign of politicizing the trial. Jason Miller, a senior adviser, dismissed De Niro as a “washed-up actor” and suggested that Biden’s team was trying to boost poll numbers.

Despite the Biden campaign’s assertion that the press conference wasn’t about the trial, it was met with significant heckling from Trump supporters, who labeled De Niro and the officers as traitors.

De Niro, visibly frustrated, compared the hecklers to gangsters and emphasized the Democrats’ commitment to integrity. Trump’s team continued to link all of his legal issues, baselessly alleging Biden’s involvement.

The day concluded with a press conference by Trump’s family, using the opportunity to seek campaign donations. Donald Trump Jr. criticized De Niro, implying that the actor sought attention due to a lack of recent success.

As De Niro departed, he reiterated the campaign’s stance against intimidation, stressing the importance of resisting what he characterized as Trump’s tactics.
