In Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the Disabled American Veterans DAV Hospital Transportation Network offers free rides to veterans who need to get to their VA medical appointments. Today, they received a generous donation to support their cause.

The 727 Disabled American Veterans Charity Poker Run, which has been held annually in Brookings for the past 20 years, presented a check for $57,000.

It’s humbling to see their faces and realize just how much this donation means to them,” said Bob Foster, co-chair of the 727 DAV Charity Poker Run.

The transportation network relies entirely on donations and is currently seeking additional van drivers across South Dakota.

You don’t have to be a veteran to drive, Foster explained. Anyone can do it, as long as you pass a physical and are able to operate the vans. There’s always a great need for drivers to help veterans get to their VA appointments.
