Colorado Governor Jared Polis D responded with humor and composure to former President Donald Trump’s recent verbal attacks.
Trump, speaking in Aurora, Colorado, had labeled Polis a coward and fraud while falsely claiming that immigrants had invaded and conquered the city.
Polis, appearing on CNN, brushed off the insults, noting that Trump is not running against him but against Vice President Kamala Harris.
He expressed his willingness to be a distraction for Trump, stating, The more lies and attacks he wants to say about me, the better, because I’m not on the ballot.
Polis also dismissed Trump’s claims about Venezuelan gangs taking over buildings in Aurora, referring to viral footage that authorities confirmed did not represent widespread crime in the area.
Polis noted that Trump has targeted other governors, including Georgia’s Republican Governor Brian Kemp, with similar attacks, and suggested that Trump may be distracted or facing cognitive decline.
Polis concluded by expressing his confidence in Harris, saying, I think she’ll be a great president, while emphasizing that the American people are looking for more than personal grudges from their leaders.
