Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie will host a party on Thursday evening to mark the 15th anniversary of his election as governor at Drumthwacket, the state’s governor’s mansion.

The event is approved by current Governor Phil Murphy, a Democrat.

Critics, including former CWA State Director Hetty Rosenstein, who has long opposed Christie, have expressed disapproval. Only Chris Christie would hold a party to celebrate himself, Rosenstein remarked.

Christie won the 2009 election by defeating incumbent Democrat Jon Corzine, securing 48.5% of the vote to Corzine’s 44.9%, with a margin of 86,714 votes.

The celebration is free and open to the public, and tickets can be obtained online.

Although Murphy, who criticized Christie during his 2017 gubernatorial campaign, is not attending, he has supported the event.

Murphy’s spokeswoman, Natalie Hamilton, clarified that no state funds would be used for the celebration, and Drumthwacket is available to former governors upon request.
