Governor Shapiro has signed an executive order introducing significant enhancements to benefits for Pennsylvania state workers. The announcement was made at the Commonwealth Job Fair at the Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg.

Among the key changes are expanded childcare services and increased sick leave, covering both physical and mental health issues. The order also includes financial incentives to attract employees who speak foreign languages.

“1.5 million people in Pennsylvania speak a foreign language and should be able to access services in their preferred language,” Shapiro stated.

Additionally, the state will offer more internships and mentorship opportunities, along with support for military personnel transitioning to civilian state employment.
