California (Thechieftainspear) –The California Lottery has officially named the lucky winner of the massive $1.2 billion Mega Millions jackpot drawn in December.
Lottery officials revealed on Monday that Rosemary Casarotti won the historic prize. However, no additional details about her background were provided, and she was not present at the press event.
Casarotti chose to receive her winnings as a lump sum, which will total over $570 million after deductions. She purchased the ticket at Sunshine Food and Gas on Rhonda Road in Cottonwood, securing the largest Mega Millions jackpot ever won in California.
Under state law, California lottery winners must be publicly identified, though further personal information is not required to be disclosed.

The odds of winning the jackpot by matching all five numbers plus the Mega number were an astonishing 1 in 302.5 million. The prize had been rolling over since September 10, growing steadily until the winning numbers were drawn on December 27.
