Aging is something everyone will experience, but it can be remarkable in its own way. In California, one county stands out for having residents with the longest average life spans compared to others in the state.

Whether due to its environment, healthcare quality, or lifestyle, this particular county in California is known for its longevity.

According to Stacker, Mono County has the shortest life expectancy in California, with residents living an average of 98.9 years, which is 19 years longer than the state average.

Stacker determined the counties with the highest life expectancies in each state by analyzing data from the 2024 County Health Rankings & Roadmaps by the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute. This data measures the average number of years a person can expect to live from birth, based on death rates and population data. Counties with insufficient or unreliable data were excluded.
