Burlington residents now have the opportunity to upgrade their library cards to gain expanded access to libraries across Vermont.
The Fletcher Free Library has joined the Homecard Library System, a cooperative program consisting of 30 libraries in northwestern Vermont.
By registering for a Homecard, residents can visit any participating library to access a wide range of collections, programs, and services.
Since Vermont lacks a statewide library system, this initiative aims to bridge that gap, promoting greater access to materials and services.
We’re always keeping our eye on access for equity reasons, for reasons of being able to offer a diversity of materials.
We have limited budgets in our libraries these days, so the more that we are all able to share, the more that we’re able to get,” said Emer Feeney, Assistant Director at Fletcher Free Library.
Burlington residents who want to take advantage of the system should visit the Fletcher Free Library to upgrade their card to a Homecard.
Those across the state who already hold a Homecard are encouraged to visit Fletcher Free to further enhance their access.
